Mails not sent to subscribers
-
thank you for admitting that my questions have not been addressed
I do not want to know whether people are reading my emails
I want to know why followers are/were not receiving emails of my blogs (in your terminology I guess that is a subscription email was sent and not rejected by the server)
I have provided specific examples where this has happened
I have never asked to unsubscribe people, I think you are confusing that with the duplication of followers I reported
I don’t understand what you can see and hence what you mean by “someone”. I cannot see email addresses for Followers they are only displayed for Email Followers. Both of these lists are supposed to be of people who are subscribed to receive emails from a particular date and I have received emails from WordPress confirming their subscription. Followers I know have told me that they have not received emails.
I do not understand how to “type the addresses normally so they’ll be hidden from public view” but you already have email addresses if you can’t relate Follower names to emails I can ask the Follower if it is apparent to me who they are
And again, please do mind the guide about being patient and friendly. I understand you’re frustrated, and you want to avoid lists, but I’m trying my best to understand where this failure with the email of my blogs is occurring, and will continue if you’ll work with me in good faith. Thank you! -
Okay, when I said “Someone” there I meant we can look up a specific follower for you if you’ll specify which one. And, re: the email addresses, I simply meant type them as addresses. I realize now I misunderstood one of the points on your earlier ABCDEF list so, no worries there.
I understand now you’re saying that some of your followers felt like they had to sign up for a free account here at WordPress.com in order to follow your site by email. I’m not sure how they came to that conclusion, but if you’re interested in making it very easy for people to follow your site by email, I recommend adding follow blog widget. If someone does not have a WordPress.com account, they’ll only see an option to enter an email address. They will just need to confirm the subscription before we’ll start sending them anything, and they will still have an option to block all emails if they choose.
So right now I understand some folks have blocked emails, some folks have signed up multiple times and are getting duplicates, and some have signed up multiple times and still don’t get any emails.
To keep things clearer than our last attempt, let’s work on one person’s issues at a time. I’ll let you choose which one; just provide the email address / name and what issue they’re struggling with and we’ll go from there.

I cannot see the email address of a Follower, only their name. Is this the same thing?
It is a standard trick on the internet to ‘hide’ the options. The big bold ‘subscibe’ button versus the light small alternative (sometimes you have to page down to even find an alternative). That is how they were guided to select what they didn’t want. And that is why I stopped using your email invites.
I have the subscribe widget, are you saying that it generates a different confirmation that the invitation? That would relieve the extent of the issue.
I don’t understand the logic of requesting to subscribe and immediately blocking the subscription. I can understand suspending later on, when on holiday. In any event my understanding is that the people I enquired about were not aware of the facility and did not do this.
If you are aware that there are blocked emails or signed up multiple times then tell me who they are, and we can try and find how that happened.
You advised me to type email addresses so they are hidden from view but did not say how to do this.
Until that is calrified I suggest we commence with the first email already provided and work through the blog from there. -
I cannot see the email address of a Follower, only their name. Is this the same thing?
Correct. We don’t display the email addresses of WordPress.com followers, as that would reveal to you the email address connected to a WordPress.com username, which would put the account security of that WordPress.com user at risk.
We only show the email addresses of people who subscribe via email only, without a WordPress.com account.
I have the subscribe widget, are you saying that it generates a different confirmation that the invitation?
Correct. If you invite someone to follow, they need to accept the invitation to complete the process, and when doing that they’ll be prompted whether they want to create a WordPress.com account (if they don’t have one already), or whether they just want to subscribe via email without creating an account. You can view pending invitations you sent out from your end, but if someone deletes the invitation email on their end there’s nowhere they can go back to to complete the process should they change their mind.
If someone without a WordPress.com account signs up using the follow blog widget or the follow button on the site, an email is sent to them to confirm. That subscription will remain as pending for their email address until they confirm, and they won’t receive any further notifications until they complete that process. They can also view pending subscriptions for their email address by entering their email at https://subscribe.wordpress.com.
If someone with a WordPress.com site signs up using the widget or the button, there is no additional confirmation, as whether or not they’ll receive emails is controlled globally from their account settings, or per site from the Reader.
If you are aware that there are blocked emails or signed up multiple times then tell me who they are, and we can try and find how that happened.
The only way for us to see if a particular email is blocking subscriptions is to look up the settings for that specific email directly. We can’t see this information by just looking at your subscriber list.
If you know of a specific subscriber who says they aren’t receiving emails, give us the email address and we can check that specific email only. But even then we’ll only be able to provide you very limited info.
You advised me to type email addresses so they are hidden from view but did not say how to do this.
Type the email address in your reply, each email on its own line. It will be hidden from view automatically – you don’t need to do anything on your end to ensure this.

I have not received an explanation why the first email (they1, which has already been provided) did not receive emails.
I thought we were supposed to be clarifying item by item because you refuse to deal with a full list? -
Do you mean the Gmail address you posted in your comment at https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/mails-not-sent-to-subscribers/#post-3412337? Please use the actual email address you’re referring to.
That email address subscribed to your site in October, but their subscription is still pending, so they haven’t confirmed it yet, and we won’t send them any post notification emails until they do.
They have not requested any new confirmation emails for at least the past month.
If they no longer have the confirmation email we sent them at the time, they can either try subscribing using the widget on your site again, or they can view and approve their pending email subscriptions at https://subscribe.wordpress.com/

There are no subscriptions associated with that address. Is that the email address they’ve been checking?
-
initially the invitation to michell1 was blocked as spam. It was subsequently cleared. They subscribed over 3 months ago. they never received an email of a post. They showed under my followers as “currently subscribing”
-
The address you mentioned is not showing up as a follower at all, so it won’t get any mail. There is a michelle user who has a different address, as well as a michelle follower by email, but again, the address is not the one you mentioned here. And that address is getting notifications. Is it possible they’re checking the wrong one?
-
The question was why they never received anything for the months they they were subcribed with that email address. Does your answer mean that you do not have logs of what was sent, and only have a record of what you claim to be sending now?
michell1 is the two michelles that you mention and the questions pertaining to that were asked in my unanswered lists. We will get to them as we navigate the single email at a time appoach you have insisted on -
Hi there,
I caught up on the thread and believe I understand everything that is going on. Thank you for your patience as we work with you to figure out what is going on – I understand your frustration, but we’ll figure this out together.
I looked at the logs for quite a while and have a few questions about them myself. So, I am going to ask about what I see internally and will get back with you once I receive an update.
Thank you.
