main menu (home) is not set as start
-
Hi,
By opening the weblog, the main page is not the page where the sticky post/post slider appears.
This problem occured when I changed from Twenty Eleven to Oxygen. I made a new page ‘Home’ and only by clicking on ‘home’ page I come into the main menu.
It’s not logic and I would like to have the ‘home’ page as main menu. How can I do this?
Thank you,
CinderellaThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Please consult the detailed theme description here http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/oxygen/ There are also many threads that explain how the Oxygen theme is designed to operate.
https://en.forums.wordpress.com/tags/oxygenIn Oxygen you can either have a Home page that displays your posts or a static front page ie. a Showcase template. http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/#setting-up-a-static-front-page
Page templates can be set under the “Page Attributes” section on the page editor screen. For more information on Page Attributes:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/page-attributes/Showcase page template
When you first activate Oxygen, you’ll see your posts in a traditional blog format but if you’d like to showcase your content in an online magazine-like fashion, then you can use the Showcase Page template. …Post thumbnails are 470 pixels wide, unless you make the post Sticky to show off in the featured slider, in which case they’re 750 pixels wide. Keep in mind: if you mark a post as Sticky but the featured image is less than 750 pixels wide, then it won’t display in the slider and will still disappear from the river of posts.
If you failed to upload and set a featured image of the correct dimensions in each post then until you do upload one into each one the gray box will be there.
Please be aware that you cannot crop the sticky post thumbnails.
Sticky post thumbnails are 750 pixels wide in the featured slider
Regular post thumbnails are 470 pixels wide

Thank you for your very, very quick answer. Your explaination is rather long and very detailed. Maybe I can make it simpler by saying that when I switched from themes, the page ‘home’ was gone. All contents were seated on that nameless page. I start to rebuilt the blog without ‘home’ page.
I hope this is more clear?

If you want the traditional blog format on the Oxygen theme then don’t create a static front page ie. a Showcase template.

I have not set it as static page. The problem is more that when opening my weblog, it is not automaticly going to home page…

Something to clearify: when I publish a new post, it is not sent to readers because it is not recognized as a new post, since it is not published on the ‘home’ page?!
Help me please!

Another clearification, which is very strange to me. When I change ‘your latest post’ to ‘static page’ (in the ‘reading settings’ of ‘settings’) and click on ‘front page’ and choose ‘home’ it seems to be what I want: by opening my blog is at the home page.
Now, I don’t know what will happen if I post a new post? Will it show on this ‘static’ home page? Will followers receieve a notification?
