Main menu in Harmonic

    @shawnajroberts,
    Hi.

    Can you tell me what browser and version you’re using currently so I can check if this is a browser compatibility issue?

    Firefox 34.0.5.

    I just visited your site and scrolled down. Here’s what I see when I’m looking at your widgets section. You can see the header bar is still across the top of the site…

    With no change to the default zoom setting, the header menu is reached via a three-bar tab. It does not remained fixed as I scroll. And it does not reappear at any time during a scroll to the bottom of the front page.

    If I zoom out one click the header menu will disappear as you begin to scroll and then return after scrolling a distance approximately equal to the height of the menu bar. I don’t know if the bar had been reappearing previously. Hadn’t noticed any reappearance.

    Re: height of the bottom bar:

    By this, do you mean less tall?

    Yes. Thanks for the code. I presume that requires custom upgrade to use?

    Thanks for the details musicdoc1! It sounds like this is the menu bar you’re seeing when you visit the site:

    This is the mobile/tablet view. From what I can tell, the header menu is only fixed on desktop browsers. Once the mobile or tablet view is triggered, the top bar will not be fixed anymore.

    Let me know if you have more questions!

    Thanks. However, I’m not using a mobile device or tablet when I access the website, and I am using a desktop PC with a desktop browser. I’m doing nothing that would “trigger” a mobile or tablet view.

    I have noticed the same or similar issues with respect to the default menu and appearance of the header image on certain websites with certain themes while providing support here in the last several weeks. Not sure of the cause, but I’ve grown to suspect that it’s due to one or more of the following specs of the older monitor I use:

    * 4:3 aspect ratio, where 16:9 is evidently more prevalent.
    * 12″ X 9″ dimensions
    * 1024 X 768 pixels, which happens to be the maximum presently allowed due to a graphics driver issue

    I mean nothing that I’m aware of, unless its the use of a small monitor with a outdated aspect ratio.

    Sorry. I could have been waaay more clear there. The responsive menu is triggered by your browser window size. It looks like the collapsed menu appears on browsers that are 1024 pixels wide or less.

    So on your current system, there’s no way for you to view the fixed menu in this theme.

    No worries. I suspected that’s what the issue was.

    Actually, as I mentioned above,

    If I zoom out one click the header menu will disappear as you begin to scroll and then return after scrolling a distance approximately equal to the height of the menu bar.

    You may have missed that post, and perhaps I wasn’t very clear. With zoom set on one click out on FF (latest), the horizontal menu bar initially disappears as I begin to scroll from the top, but after I scroll a distance approximately equal to the height of the menu bar (2/3rds of an inch or so on my PC) the menu bar returns, and remains fixed the rest of the way down!

    You may have missed that post,

    I did miss that! Sorry. :) It’s clearly not a perfect fixed header, likely because most of our sites don’t have fixed headers. I can check in with the developers to see if there’s anything we can do about that.
