Main menu item having sub menu item

I thought that the way to add a sub menu item to a main menu item was by creating a page, then setting that page to the Parent page, and it would automatically add the sub menu item.

Under “attributes” in my Dashboard, it explains “you can arrange your pages in hierarchies, for example you could have an About page that has Life Story and My Dog pages under it.

    So why doesn’t that work?

I have a tab”Music”, and I wanted a submenu item under that for “Chopin”.

    Doesn’t show up

The only theme here currently that has hierarchical top navigation is iNove. The pages widget will show hierarchy, but you have to edit the pages widget and select that.

Oh, so my theme sucks as far as creating sub menu items? LOL
    That’s a bummer!

When you say the “pages widget” will show hierarchy, but you have to edit the pages widget and select that. Could you explain. I’m not familiar with the pages widget.

I see you have the pages widget already in the sidebar. If you notice “Chopin” is shown indented under “Music” indicating that it is a child or subcategory of Music.

YES. When you said “pages widget” I figured I better see if I can find anything on that and I did. So apparently that is how a “child page” works on this theme. It doesn’t really have a dropdown menu, but rather just lists the “child pages” in the widget.

Okay, thank you for directing me to the WIDGETS! SMILE
