main page doesn’t follow template.

I just started a blog and I love the service. The only problem I have is that when I go to my blog mrgreve.wordpress.com, it’s not the blog I created until I click on August over to the side.

I will be using this as my classroom webpage. Overtime I hope to integrate more of the “bloggy” aspects but for now I want to keep it simple. I already have the pages created and linked, but I don’t want my kids to have to type in mrgreve.wordpress.com/2008/08 everytime nor do I want to tell them to go to mrgreve.wordpress.com and then click on august to the left. I just want them to go to mrgreve.wordpress.com and have it be self-explanatory from there.

    Thanks for you help!

    Josh

It looks like you created a static front page, but did not create and specify a page for the blog posts. Create a page for the blog posts and then set it as the “post page under settings > reading.

You’ve also referenced “links” in the text on the static home page. To have the blogroll titled “links” go into manage > link category and create a link category called “links.” Then under manage > links, edit each link and unassign blogroll and assign “links” and then the title will change for you.

Thanks! It looks like, oddly, it fixed itself…b ut now I have two identical homepages (the second was the one I created after I couldn’t figure out how to change the orginal homepage) so, not sure if an administrator fixed that for me and, if so, thanks!

Thank you for telling me how I can change the title “Blogroll”. I’m still figuring this out but this site is really neat. I can’t believe it’s free and so far seems to be ad-free. Amazing!

It’s only ad-free when you’re logged in. Random surfers may see Google ads at any time.

I see. thank you. It’s still great!
