Main page gone
-
Hello,
I am fairly new to WordPress and still figuring it all out. I hope my question is a simple one, but I couldn’t find the solution after looking through the FAQs or this forum. I had a duplicate page (my main page and another page were identical). I deleted the other page, but now my main page (or whenever someone goes to the site) reads as follows:
Not Found
Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn’t here. The page is blank! How do I recreate my main page again?
changuitosproductions.wordpress.com
Thanks, cyberworld.

I read the “Editing the Home Page” thread from five days ago, followed those instructions, but it didn’t work. Any advice?

I had a duplicate page (my main page and another page were identical).
The “front” or “main” page of your blog is the only automatically updating page in your blog. As only 1 page on any blog is automatically updating so what I’m questioning is how could you have two “duplicate” “main” pages?
This is what I found http://changuitosproductions.wordpress.com/home/
I also see another “home” page and when I click it I get a 404 – What you are looking for isn’t here. -
Regarding this:
The “front” or “main” page of your blog is the only automatically updating page in your blog. It’s the page to which every new blog entry is posted after publication. As only 1 page on any blog is automatically updating how could you have “duplicate” “main” pages?
I had created a page called “home” which had all the information on my main page, which was also called “home”. The one I created was not an automatically updating page, but since it was a duplicate of the actual main page, I deleted it. That is probably why my main page is gone, either I deleted the wrong one or they were somehow linked, and deleting one caused the other to go.
On the main page, if I click on the “uncategorized” tab under “Categories” I am directed to what I want the main page to be. It just doesn’t start off there.
Thoughts? Thank you for your assistance.

what is your main page supposed to have on it? Right now i see your About Us page as a static front page. Is this not what should be there?

OK, lets everybody stop because there’s a bit of bad advice and incorrect answers up there.

Concerning this:
Not Found
Sorry, but you are looking for something that isn’t here. You get that when you as the blog admin has deleted all of your posts. Normally you see a Hello World post as your first post and that’s on your front page. Your front page is just a list of your most recent posts. if you don’t have any posts, there’s nothing to display so that’s what you get.
I read the “Editing the Home Page” thread from five days ago
When you tell someone something on line, not just here, please remember to provide a link. For example, I’m reading a book. It’s here in my hand. It has a blue cover. Can you tell me what it is? Of course not because you can’t see what I’m looking at.
thistimethisspace, you need to stop deleteing/ editing posts like that. Do you see how confused you’ve made the thread? That’s probably why we know only have 10 minutes to edit a post now.
Currently I see a static front page on the changuitos blog in question. It’s is the About Us Page that has been set as a Static Front Page instead of the normal display of Posts. It’s is not the Home page. There is no Home page. That home link is just a link back to the main page. There’s no browser issue or anything else.
let me please ask this. What specifically do you want on the front page of your blog? The About Us Pageor would you rather have your Posts back there. This question is for changuitos and it is up to changuitos to answer.
Thanks,
-drmike
