Main site and linked blog mixed up!
-
A few years back I set up a blog for my school and had it linked to a domain therefore making a school website (mcpa.org.uk). I am now leaving the school and need to transfer the blog to a new owner but have a problem.
A while ago I explored the idea of setting up another blog for my church so I created an address and had a look with WordPress but decided not to take it any further. I didn’t realise it would get connected with the first site and wanted to keep them separate. I haven’t been able to delete it however.
Going back to the school one now, I have tried to transfer ownership today only to find my primary site (mcpa.org.uk) has been downgraded to a linked blog and I only have an option to transfer the church one which I don’t want and actually want to delete! What do I do?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi –
I’m happy to try and help get this sorted out.
On the account I can see that you have mcpa.org.uk which is connected to the free site, mccpsdemo.wordpress.com This site is set up on our business plan.
The other site on the account, jubileechurchbanburyorguk.wordpress.com is a free site.
The two sites aren’t connected.
It’s completely possible to transfer ownership of the mcpa.org.uk to a different account. https://en.support.wordpress.com/move-domain/transfer-a-domain-to-another-wordpress-com-account/
Write back to me with any other questions.

I’ve followed that link but it doesn’t give me any option for Transferring Domain anywhere, on either of the domains associated with the site. I’m completely clueless about all of this. I’ve managed to add a new Admin but need to completely disassociate my personal email address from this site now (the one that begins s.m.) as I will no longer be an employee at the school after tomorrow!
I’m wondering if someone else in our school has already taken over the domain. If they have done in the past, can I then just get the new Admin to take me off and will that solve everything?
Thanks in advance and sorry for my huge lack of knowledge!

The email address on the account can be updated to whomever is taking over. Maybe you should update it to your personal email to get through the transfer process – that way you aren’t locked out of the account entirely.
Do that via https://wordpress.com/me/account/ You’ll get a verification email to confirm the change. That’d be most pressing I think since you’re current one will go defunct after employment is terminated.

What is the user account that you want to have mcpa.org.uk transferred to? I will do it manually.
But please do update that email address on the account so you don’t lose access while we work to get things sorted.

It needs to all go over to mcpawebsite1.
The account already has my personal email address on it. That’s what it was set up with originally. Do I just get the new owner to delete that once she’s taken over, using the link you posted earlier?
Thanks so much for your help. I was really lost!

Okay, the school site, along with its Business Plan and domain mapping upgrades now belong to mcpawebsite1. Your smgibson2012 account is no longer a user on that site – the new owner will have to invite you at My Site ->People ->Add again if you should still have access.
Your smgibson2012 account still owns your other site, http://jubileechurchbanburyorguk.wordpress.com/.
If the mcpawebsite1 is still connected to an email address you own, the person taking over management of that site can just update it from their account settings.
