Main text duplicated on the lefthand side
-
Hi there,
A while ago a web developer made my website and made me an admin. I wanted to install the woocommerce plugin but this required updating WordPress, which I did. Unfortunately, now all the pages, except the news and events page, display all the main text on the lefthand collum as well as in the main text body, like so https://www.tamsinabbott.co.uk/cards/ I would like instead, for this sidebar to be removed and the main text body to take up the whole width of the page. but I don’t know how to do this.
There are a few things to note:
1) As I mentioned, the ‘News and Events’ page displays the left collum differently, using it to display the date of the post and the poster’s name (which are all me). I’d quite like to remove this too
2) I really don’t know much about WordPress, but it looks like it might be something to do with the ‘widgets’ section in appearance, although this doesn’t display anything in the ‘blog sidebar’ or ‘page sidebar’ sections. There’s a red warning at the top of the widget page saying ‘flexible-recent-posts-widget’ block was affected by errors and may not function properly. I’m not sure what the web developer used that plugin for but it hasn’t been updated in 7 years and could be related.Any idea how to fix this?

Hey there! Your site isn’t hosted here on our managed services, but maybe we can point you in the right direction. Your developer built the site with the Basis theme, and here’s their support page that explains some common how-tos and lets you reach support:
https://thethemefoundry.com/tutorials/basis/
Also, if your site hasn’t been updated for several years, it may be smart to hire someone to run updates for you. Usually keeping up on updates is pretty straightforward, but updating from that old can be a bit trickier. You’ll want to be sure to maintain your installation going forward.
Then if you need more help with your WordPress installation, you’ll want to be sure to use the forums for the free, DIY WordPress code instead, as these forums are primarily for our free-tier hosting.
Here’s an overview of our services vs the DIY software, but in short, we provide hosting, maintenance, security, support, and spam filtering, as well as real-time backups depending on the plan you use. If you’re interested in moving your site here, let us know your goals with your site and any questions you have. We can confirm the best plan for your case and recommend your next steps.
Cheers!
