Maintaining classic editor as default

Maintain classic editor as default – lately when I have logged in to created new pages/posts and update/edit, I am seeing a new version of the editor interface. I find it too simplistic and prefer the “classic” edit interface. Is there anyway to disable/eliminate this new interface and set my default to the “classic” editor interface?

  • Hi there. In the new editor, look in the top-right corner. There should be a link to switch to classic mode. If your browser has cookies enabled and you click on that, the site will remember your preference and take you to the classic editor automatically next time.

Keep in mind you’ll need to do this for every browser and computer you use, as these settings are saved locally via a cookie, not on the website itself. If you clear your browser cache and cookies for whatever reason you’ll also have to make this selection again.

You can also reach the classic editor by going to Posts ->Add New for new posts, and Posts ->All Posts ->Edit to edit existing posts.

Thank you! I had been changing over to classic but had hoped there might be some way to set my default view. At any rate, thank you for taking the time to respond to me.

  • As I said, if you have cookies enabled then your browser should remember this preference. There’s just not a setting inside the dashboard for that.

    You’re welcome :)
