Maintenance Mode
-
I think that there should be a Maintenance Mode available on WordPress.com so that we don’t have to make our site private when we want to make changes to it.
Thanks,
TomThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I have no use for one because I have private test blogs set up as mirror blogs of my main blogs. I do all testing in the mirror blogs first. Then I make changes on the main blogs without setting them to private as it usually takes me only a few minutes to make the changes.

You can also create a page with a “maintenance notice” on it then switch to use it temporarily as static front page. http://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/front-page/

Yeah. I do use a private testing site but I like to make sure that the changes I make are working OK and everything, but I suppose that doing this doesn’t really take long anyway.

Thanks for the idea for a test blog. I never thought of that. I am going to set one up today for one of my blogs. So smart!

Hi there,
You’re welcome. Every blogger needs a test blog to try out themes and widgets, etc. in. :) Make it a private mirror blog of your primary blog and it becomes very useful as well as being a backup blog you import content into on a regular basis. To change blog visibility go to > Settings > Reading. here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/ scroll down to Creating a mirror blog http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2010/05/19/how-to-select-a-wordpress-com-theme-part-1/ -
