Maintenance pllugin

  WordPress.com should have a maintenance plugin because it will allow users to shut down their websites temporally to perform maintenance and make other arrangements and adjustments.

  The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  I never ever do that so I do not have Google search spiders arriving and posting that the site is not available.

  I simply go ahead and do what I want to do and I have been doing that for over 10 years.

  You can however create your own page for that purpose and temporarily set it as a static front page. I do NOT recommend that.

  You can temporarily change the site visibility to private but that results in Google search spiders arriving and posting that the site is not available.
