Major blog failure after mapping existing domain

I mapped an existing domain ( http://intelnews.org ), following the relevant instructions religiously. After updating my name servers with my domain registrar, I selected to update my primary blog domain to http://intelnews.org .
As soon as I did that, my blog disappeared. When I go to http://intelligencenews.wordpress.com , I get a 301 notice saying “Moved Permanently. The document has moved here”. The “here” is clickable, but points to “http:///”.
What’s worse, when I go to my Dashboard > Posts and click on “View” under any of my blog posts, I get a notice saying “The web site you are accessing has experienced an unexpected error. Please contact the website administrator.”, as you can see: http://www.2011.com/12/15/02-462/index.cfm?CFID=1357159&CFTOKEN=48006489
Have I done something horribly wrong? If yes, would someone here please help me correct it?

I’m seeing your site just fine at http://intelnews.org/ . It can up to 72 for a nameserver change to propagate completely around the internet and there is nothing that can be done to speed that up. How soon you will see the change is entirely dependent on how often your ISP updates their DNS caches.
Log out of wordpress, clear your browser cache and cookies, shut your computer down and the start it back up. This will clear everything including your computer’s DNS caches.

Thank you for your response. Based on what you said, I guess some people can see the site, and some cannot, based on where they are geographically located. Undoubtedly, this must be true, because I am getting some traffic, including comments, posted on the blog (which I can see through my Dashboard).
Even though I shut down my computer, cleared my cookies and emptied the browser’s cache, I still cannot see my site. Also, will other users have to do the same, i.e. clear their browser cookies and empty their caches, before they can see my site again? And if this is a necessary step in the process, I don’t understand why it is not mentioned in the relevant WordPress documentation, here:

As of now, my problem has not been resolved, and I would ask that this thread remains open.

I see you site fine – west coast of US – the name server propagation seems to be working fine – for some reason the blog owner seems to be the last person to see the changes based on my own experience.

Thank you kindly, auxclass. It’s nice to know I am not the only one who has experienced this issue.
It appears, therefore, that DNS renaming is a relatively slow process that applies gradually and randomly to various servers around the world. And of course it is ironic that the owner of the blog is often the last person to be able to see his or her site following DNS changes.
I insist, however, that this aspect of the process should be adequately covered in the WordPress documentation, for those of us who are not experts. In any case, I will update this thread for the benefit of other WordPress users.

When a new domain is purchased or when name servers are updated, it can take some time for the change to take full effect (up to 72 hours, but normally much less).
@TSP had the 72 also in his answer but forgot to add hours after the 72

I did read that, but had no idea what “full effect” meant –namely that servers around the world are updated randomly. Now I do. Thanks for taking the time to explain it.

You need to be older – David Caridine (sp?) wandered the west after being taught by a Kung Fue (sp?) master – show was late 60’s early 70’s – can’t remember the show name.

Incidentally, I want to mention that the mapping domain process has been flawless and that WordPress has done a remarkable job in redirecting permalinks to the new domain address. Throughout this transition, the blog has seen no drop in visitor numbers. I’m very impressed.
