Major Hosting Issue

    Hi, everyone,

I am in the process of setting up a new store with Shopify. I added our domain to Shopify so that I could link the channels, but now I can’t access the WooCommerce site at all. When I try to login to WordPress admin, it tells me I don’t have a
    WordPress site.
I think I can fix this if I change the DNS settings with GoDaddy, but I don’t have the right hosting IP address. The representative who helped me correct the DNS settings told me that I do not have the correct IP address for the A record and this is stopping my site from loading.
I will be happy to give additional information if more background is required.

    Thank you so much!

  • Hi! The site apparently wasn’t hosted here on our managed services, but your host can likely help you with one of these options that will work with your copy of WordPress:
    https://wordpress.org/support/article/changing-the-site-url/

Then if you need more help with the free WordPress code, you’ll want to use these forums:
    https://wordpress.org/support/forums/

Here’s the difference between the free WordPress software and our managed hosting services:
    https://get.wp.com

Basically we provide SSL hosting, maintenance, security, spam filtering, etc. Our paid plans get direct support, and we have this community forum for those who use our free tier hosting. Let us know if you have any questions for us. Cheers!

    Hi, Supernovia,

Thank you for getting back to me. I’m afraid I don’t understand what to do though. I thought we paid WordPress for hosting, so if that is not the case, how do I find out who is the host?

I cannot access the WordPress site at all now. The url loads a security warning and when I log in as the administrator, the dashboard shows that I don’t have a WordPress site. At the very least, I need to recover the data so that I can rebuild everything.

What can I do and whom can I contact?

    Thank you!

  • Please share the URL and I can find who is the hosting provider and share that with you. I didn’t see that information in the original post.

One huge benefit of using our managed hosting environment here at WordPress.com is that you are able to focus on the content of your site, or the store. Our team of experts handles all the back end details that need constant attention in order for a site to continue performing well online. Stuff like updates, seo, security, spam, mobile optimization, and more – is all handled by our team and you don’t have to fuss with any of that stuff.

The hosting plans can be paid for by the month or by the year. The yearly option offers a good savings. It is refundable for 30 days. We can upgrade or downgrade the hosting plan at any point to meet the demands of your project and budget as well.

We have a team who works on building the site for you too. If that’s of interest you can find out more on https://builtbywp.com/
