Make all old posts private

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello!

I’m looking for a way to change most of my old posts, in bulk, to private. I want a mostly fresh start, but with the same blog. My future posts would be public. Basically, I just don’t want a whole lot in the way of archives. Is this possible?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi Julia,

The fastest way to set all your old posts to private is by bulk editing. View all your posts here:

    https://jeezejulia.wordpress.com/wp-admin/edit.php

    1. Check the top box to select all the posts on that page
    2. Using the “Bulk Actions” dropdown, select Edit, then click Apply

    Example screenshot

    1. You’ll get a new menu that looks like this.
    2. Use the Status dropdown, select Private
    3. Click the blue Update button

That sets all the checked Posts to the Private status.

If you know you want to do this for all your posts, it might be easiest go open your Screen Options, and set it to display your total number of posts, instead of the default 20 posts. This means checking the box will select all of your posts instead of only the 20 on that page, and the bulk edit will apply to all posts.
