make front page full width without post
-
I’ve managed to remove the search, rss feed, etc. but not the recent post. I want my front/home page to be clean without this stuff.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)
-
Okay, I did remove the “Recent Post” at the bottom of the page by deleting the “Hello” (& all) post, but I still can find no place to make this a full width page. The odd thing this theme gives you an easy click on all the other pages to do so. Just not the Home (front) page.
Yes it is a password protected site while under build. If need be, I’ll work that out with who ever thinks they need in to solve this. The theme is Ixion by Automatic.
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Hi,
On Ixion, when you set the front page to display a static page rather than the latest posts, the theme has been designed to include the “Recent Posts” section on the front page. The Ixion theme guide describes and illustrates what appears on the front page when it’s set to display a static page. The front page of the Ixion demo includes a “Recent Posts” section.

You’ve removed the section temporarily by deleting the default post. As soon as you publish one new post it will return.
but I still can find no place to make this a full width page. The odd thing this theme gives you an easy click on all the other pages to do so. Just not the Home (front) page.
On a test site with Ixion activated, there are two page template options, “Default” and “No Sidebar.” I also find that neither template displays a page at full-width. The “Default” option displays the page content left-aligned with a sidebar widget area at the right, and the “No Sidebar” option normally results in the page content displayed with large margins on each side. However, the “No Sidebar” option doesn’t work on a page set as the static front page. Instead, it displays the same as does when the “Default” template is chosen. So I think I’m getting the same results that you’ve reported. I presume this is an intended result produced in accordance with the theme’s design, but I’ll call for staff attention. Staff will respond here.

Another result of my tests, with Ixion activated:
If there are no widgets in the sidebar widget area, then the static front page will display without the sidebar and with wide margins on either side, regardless of the template selected.

I meant to say:
If there are no widgets in the sidebar widget area, then content of the static front page will display without the sidebar and with wide margins on either side, regardless of the template selected.

This is definitely intentional, I believe it’s because the inclusion of widgets is very strongly suggested, like a Search widget and a Subscriptions widget for example.
musicdoc1 is also right though, the area leaves if you have no sidebar widgets. Since you’re self-hosted, I wonder if Jetpack’s Widget Visibility could help with that: https://jetpack.com/support/widget-visibility/

I appreciate all the testing you’ve done musicdoc1 as well as both your and macmanx’s input. There will be no post on this site so the post should stay away and as to the wide margins, the customer seems to be happy with the layout so far.
I guess had I design this theme I may also have locked in elements, after all if you don’t like it design your own right? Over all I like the theme and its a good fit for what I want and what I don’t want is to is make a theme from scratch! No time for that especially when most add in css will customize how I like.
Thanks again for your help!
