Make Image Caption Font Smaller

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hey WP! I’m very new to this… currently trying to edit my images to add borders & change the caption font to be much smaller.

    Does anyone know how to do this?

    I downloaded a child theme but now I’m regretting it because it doesn’t seem like I am able to change CSS without potentially ruining that theme. I also don’t want to make changes and then have the theme update and the changes be ruined.

    I’m so confused, please help!! Thank you!!

    Hi there,

    This forum is dedicated for blogs and sites running on WordPress.com servers. It seems that your blog is built on your custom WordPress installation, so it will take different steps to modify the CSS of your template. I would strongly recommend asking on the WordPress.org forum, as the people there have much deeper understanding of your situation and will be able to help you better. You can find it here: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/themes-and-templates

    Anyway, here is some sample code to decrease the font size of image captions:

    .entry-content .wp-caption-text {
        font-size: 0.85em;
    }

    And this one will add grey dotted border around the photos with a small margin in between:

    .entry-content figure img {
        padding: 0.5em;
        border: 1px dotted #aaa;
    }
