Make my site not show up on google.

I want to delete all the content on my site but keep the site name. Its a super old blog for our company, we dont want anyone else using it, but we dont want it showing up on google.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You must be logged in as Admin under the exact same username account that registered the blog to delete the content in the blog but retain the URL.
You can quickly remove your contents by deleting them in bulk.

Google and Bing only clear their caches of deleted indexed content that produces a 404 (page not found) every 3 – 6 months.

After your clear the content to change blog visibility to private go to > Settings > Reading. See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/

@TT – would the cache’s be cleared faster if they cleared the content but left the site open to search engines?
then when the search engines came by to check, they would 404 not found as opposed to getting a “keep out” message

raincoaster I think said that having a live site with no content cleared search engines a bit quicker than just deleting a site – was thinking this might be the same thing

I agree that it sounds like the best course of action is not to make the blog private. That’s based on leaving it empty but what if one wants to create new content in it?

If they want to create new content two options I can think of for a cleared site
1) just start adding content, or add two or three Posts then think about the theme if they want (empty themes look UGLY!) then think about the theme, Widgets etc, no reason to be in a hurry to get the exact Widget in the sidebar
2) set to Private and work getting things like they want and open it back up
I think that too many people agonize about small things in the looks of a blog and that takes the fun out of a blog – I don’t go to a site because of some whiz bang looks – I go for content and as long as it looks reasonable it is fine for me – just don’t put 4 MB pictures all over the place
Maybe don’t do like I did and have some of the pages named “test-page-1” – keep thinking about fixing that one of these days
For search engines, raincoaster said that having a site set to Private sort of turns off search engines and it take more time to index a blog after it is opened up

I am multitasking and have diddly squat for time to ruminate. I never ever make my blog private except the ones I use strictly for testing so I can answer questions here. I conceded this long ago and regret posting the second comment I made above. Have a great rest of the day. :)
