Make my theme full page

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi All,

    I been on wordpress.com for few years on a free plan and free theme which is now retired. I noticed my main content column is very narrow especially on larger monitors and therefore I wanted to increase the width dynamically based on resolution. I learnt I needed CSS to do this and hence needed a paid plan. I today have upgraded thanks to wordpress.com offer but I don’t know what I need to put in CSS customisation to make it wider. If someone could kindly advise, it be much appreciated :)

    Thanks in advance

    Kind Regards

    Zed

  • Hi Zed, layout and functionality changes can get pretty complex with various media queries and what not, so they fall outside the scope of the CSS support we offer here.

    That said, something like this might suit you:

    @media screen and (min-width: 1000px) {
      #page, #masthead {
        max-width: calc(100% - 6em);
      }
    }

    You can adjust that to fit your needs. Or, if you wanted to hire someone to come up with CSS that covers all of the cases for you, we have a recommendation here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/upwork/

    Hoping that helps!
