Make Sela stop using featured images on blog pages
-
Is this possible without buying an upgrade to delete that code? All I want is for the blog page to not display featured images. I don’t know if that’s an option somewhere and I’m just missing it. Any weird workarounds would be great, too. :)
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Be aware that WordPress.COM is a turnkey operation with off the shelf themes. See here https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/sela/ We cannot access and edit the underlying php or html in theme templates as all blogs wearing the same theme are using the same template.
The ability to use CSS editing to customize any theme requires a paid upgrade and is limited, so if you are into major changes I recommend hiring a web host and setting up a WordPress.ORG install instead.

If you purchase the upgrade please use this link https://en.forums.wordpress.com/forum/css-customization#postform so you can copy and paste your text into a thread that will appear in the CSS Forum where you will get the help you need.If you prefer you can hire a web host http://wordpress.org/hosting and set up a WordPress.ORG software install.
WordPress.COM and WordPress.ORG are completely separate and have different logins, features, run different versions of some themes with the same names, and have separate support documentation and separate support forums. Read the differences here http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

Ah, yes. So I would have to upgrade. I figured as much but thought I’d ask. I can’t remove the featured image because then the posts don’t export to social media properly. :/ Thank you. :)

if you want to purchase a premium bundle upgrade at $99 every year and do the required CSS editing then go for it, after you post to the CSS forum and ascertain if what you want to accomplish can be accomplished via CSS editing.

Yep, just to confirm, it would be possible to hide featured images on the blog index in Sela with custom CSS:
.blog .attachment-post-thumbnail { display: none; }I don’t know if any “weird workarounds” other than what timethief’s already mentioned, namely not uploading a featured image or choosing another theme. ;-)
Let me know if I can help further.

And if you want to hide the featured image on single posts in addition to the blog index, you’d use this instead of the above CSS:
.blog .attachment-post-thumbnail, .single .attachment-post-thumbnail { display: none; }
