  hello,

  i want to make wide(r), one column pages, with minimal L and R margins.

  here’s the existing site:

  can anyone point me/suggest to a free theme that will do this?

  i’ve spent a lot of time searching for themes, and also editing CSS, which I then realized I have to pay for, and would rather not do anyway, a little too difficult to understand.

  There is a Theme Forum and live demo site and the link to it is on the top of this page. http://theme.wordpress.com/ There you will find a searchbox with filters for features. When you click the features filter button you can select “One Column” then click search and you will get a display of themes with that feature.

  zBench, Coraline, Elegant Grunge, Modularity Lite to name just a few that have wide one-column layouts.

  If you have the CSS upgrade, making pages wider in twenty ten is very simple though if you like that theme.

  On the CSS, this will widen standard pages that are set to no-sidebar.

  .one-column #content {
  width: 900px;
  }
