make wp blog a subdomin of website; change name of website to name of blog;

I want to make my wp blog a subdomin of my website;
I want to change name of my website to current name of my blog.
If possible, I wd prefer to set it so that my blog is not live until its ready.Does it matter which I do first? I want to make sure I don’t lose access to either or both.
I know I can access info about how to map blog as subdomain bu if there is a SAFE order, and any thing else I need to be aware of, I’d like to know that before I make a mess!
Thank you!

Are you looking to add a blog to http://clearheartcoaching.com/?
If so, you may be interested in simply selecting a new posts page via your Settings -> Reading page:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/reading-settings/Once you’re ready to go live with your blog, you can add a link to your posts page to your custom menu:

Oh that wd be great! But ,no, the website to which I will move my wp blog, is a google apps website.
It looks like I can make my wp blog a subdomain of the google site, by going blog.clearheartcoaching.com, yes?
but I need to know which is the first step. see above
Thx!

Yes, you can map a subdomain to your WordPress.com blog following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-subdomain/
-
Does that need to happen before change the name of my google apps website to the current name of my wp blog?
-
I’m not sure what you mean by “Google Apps Website.”
Is it a Google Apps account or an entire website? Really, it shouldn’t matter either way.
-
It’s an entire website.
I want to change the name of this google site to the current name of my wordpress blog.
The I want the wp blog to be subdomain of the website. -
Will the fact that there is no “WWW.” in wp domain be a problem in then naming my google website “www.clearheartcoaching.com” ?? ?
-
You can add the www to the Google end, but this is all stuff that needs to be done through Google Apps. We can’t directly help with that.
-
Please forgive my newbieness.
Clearly I need to restate my question, starting with this piece:I own a domain name, clearheartcoaching.com,
that points directly to my wp blog. What I now want is to point that domain name directly to my google apps website.
Then make my wp blog a subdomain of that.Is it possible to link wordpress to a google apps site? I did read in one blog that it is impossible but I have not seen this anywhere else.
If its possible, would my blog be accessed via blog.clearheartcoaching.com?
Really I just want to get the two connected easily so that each increases the traffic of the other. Unless there is something far simpler and even more sensible which I am yet to consider, I’ll go with the above.
I believe the order of steps is as follows:first point domain name to google site
then map wp blog as a subdomain of the google site.
Is this correct?Lastly, I believe that my wp blog, whatever it is named, will always exist under my name at [myname].wordpress.com. Is this so?
Thx so much. I appreciate your taking the time.

Ok, to do that you’ll need to change the domain’s nameservers to point to Google Apps’ nameservers: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/domain-management/#update-nameservers
Once you have done that, the DNS will be managed through Google Apps, and you can map a subdomain back following this guide: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/map-subdomain/

Dear macmanx,
Thank you for your suggestions but it didn’t work out.
For some reason, another domain registrar (of whom Ive never heard)
is now looking after the zone files for my domain name
I contacted them to get the Text and CName records
but they referred me back to you.For nearly two weeks, I have been trying to transfer my domain name over to my google apps website, and then link my wordpress blog to the google site.
Unfortunately, most of the instructions I read required access to items that were not there. The name looks to still be linked to my wordpress blog.
Google may be able to help out here but needs the text records and cname records in order to help me get things straightened out.
I have sent messages through Contact WordPress and Support at WordPress but never heard from anyone. I am asking you to please give me specific instructions on how I may get the cname and text records from you. Can you help? Thank you so much.

The TXT and CNAME records can be added via your Custom DNS panel: http://en.support.wordpress.com/domain-mapping/custom-dns/
