Making a post a preview?

  How do I make a preview of a post on the front page of my blog instead of showing the whole post? I’d rather have the first paragraph of my post show on the front page with the title of my post and have readers click to view the whole post rather than having the whole post show on the front page. Thank you in advance for your help!
