Making a website

Hello!
I’ve just registered an account and are in my way to make a website here at WordPress.com, but on the 5th step I encountered a problem.Before deciding to make a website at WordPress.com I already knew that my blog/website’s address will have a ‘.wordpress.com’ in the back and I’m wholeheartedly fine with that since it’s free and I’m only making this for nonprofessional matters, or some might call it for fun. But in that 5th step I couldn’t find any domain options with .wordpress.com behind my typed desired name, and I even have tried to type in that exact address ((mydesiredname).wordpress.com) to see if it might already be taken but no, there is no websites registered in that address. The only free option presented there is only (mydesiredname).home.blog and in my opinion that’s worse than .wordpress.com and I don’t like it.
Is there anything I can do to have that .wordpress.com domain? Or is there anything that I did wrong or any problems here at WordPress.com that prevents me to have that domain address?

Apparently it depends on the choices you make before the 5th step.
According to this post (where you can see more info about this): https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/home-blog-vs-wordpress-com/
you have to choose: “Share ideas, experiences, updates, reviews, stories, videos, or photos plus any other goal”, in order to get the *.wordpress.com option.
