Hi! I am brand new to making websites. Am I able to make my website public for a friend to view and then make it private again? If so, how? (Thank you!)

You have a few different options.
You can change the site’s visibility. Here is how to do so.

Hi there,
You can change your site between public and private at any time. You’ll find that option at My Site ->Manage ->Settings:

The support link provided above is for changing the visibility of individual posts and pages, not the entire site.
You can also invite your friend as a viewer on the site so they can see it even while it’s private. They’ll need to first sign up for their own free username account before you can add them as a viewer.
