making an mp3 downloadable

  Hi,
  I’m trying to insert a download link for an MP3 on my site. The audio player works fine, but I would like for people to be able to download the file as well. I’ve tried the wordpress.com instructions for inserting a link to a media file several times, and it just puts ANOTHER audio player on the page, instead of a download link.
  Any ideas what I’m doing wrong?
