Making Author Name Show and Why Are Some Blogroll Links Blue?

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there! I am trying to figure out why the name of the Author posting does not show up with their post? Is there a setting I could check? It is hard for readers to tell whose post they are reading. Also, just wondering – why are some links in the blogroll blue and others are black? Same question for comments? Is there a way to change that?

    I do not have the CSS upgrade yet. Thanks very much for your help!

    Your name is linked to a blog at blogspot. Do you have a blog at wordpress.com? What’s the url please so we can see what you mean?

    From looking at things, the ones in blue are off-site (in other words, not linked to a page or whatever on your blog). “Paul” and “Bon Mama” are links to your blog.

    It appear this particular theme uses different colors for links to your blog and to offsite blogs.

    along these lines I wanted to ask if it is possible to show which post is by which author. do I need a CSS upgrade for that? or is it possible with only some blog styles and not related to CSS upgrading?

    Author dispaly is a theme dependent feature. You have 3 choices
    (1) switch to another theme – this may help when choosing; http://internetducttape.com/tools/wordpress/wordpress-theme-reviews/
    (2) create categories for each author’s names that they can assign to their posts;
    (3) have authors enter a byline on the posts they write.

    What theme are you using? Some themes display an author name and some do not.

    One way to take care of this is to have each author put a byline at the beginning of their posts. You can then make a category for each author (their name) and have the authors assign that category to each of their posts. In that way, a visitor can click on the authors name in the category widget and be taken to a page with all the posts by that author.

    Whether it is possible to add an author’s name to the metadata of a post via a CSS hack is something that will only be known to the CSS guru’s. Typically they only show up in the evenings after a full day of work, so you may not know for sure till later, or possibly a day or two.
