Making changes
-
My intern is attempting to make changes on my website, however some he can’t change until we start a form of membership. Now, I will not be launching this website for a while. All I need is to have access to edit the website just so we create the site in a timely manner. If you need further clarification, please contact me at [redacted] or email at (email visible only to moderators and staff)

Hi there,
The only sites I see on your @bkwebproductions WordPress.com account when I check on our end are listed here:
– bkwebproductions.wordpress.com
However, you should be able to access that site as the login for our forums is the same. The fact you are able to post here means that you can access that site.
Is it possible you are referring to a different site created your site under another login that we are not able to see? What is the URL of the site you are needing help with?
Happy to check in our system so we can take a closer look.

My intern was confused and so he said this:
“I’m confused what this email is answering. In order for me to gain full access to edit things on the website I think we are going to need to upgrade the plan with WordPress. I currently can’t do everything you want me to do because certain aspects require the plan to be upgraded. There’s nothing wrong with WordPress or the site, I just don’t have full access to all of the features without the upgrade.”
How do we address this issue?

Hi there,
To confirm, is your intern referring to gaining access to bkwebproductions.wordpress.com? If so, you do not need to purchase a paid plan in order to grant them access.
For information on adding users to the site, you can follow the instructions here:
https://wordpress.com/support/user-roles/#adding-users-to-your-site
However, we’re not sure the site you all referring to is hosted with us at WordPress.com or if it is a self-hosted WordPress.org site, that is why we want to confirm the address. For the difference, please check out our support page here:
Let us know, thank you!

My intern said:
“I have access to edit the site but I’m not able to use all of the features like adding videos or plug-ins and such because it says I need to purchase a plan.”
So if he wants to add videos or anything else, he has to purchase a plan. When I tried to sign up for a plan, it wanted me to pay upfront instead of paying a certain amount per month such as $15.00 per month. Is there a way to do a payment plan rather than paying upfront? Budget is tight right now and this needs to be done for my intern to receive college credit.

I have not seen you mention it to this point, but what is the URL of the site you are trying to work on? It will help if we can look it up in our system since it does not appear under your @bkwebproductions account.
Thanks for the additional info!

Hi there,
Thanks for confirming the address. Your site is on the Free plan, and you’ll have to upgrade to one of our plans for your intern to gain access to it. For now, all our plans can only be purchased annually as there is no monthly option.
-
Would my intern be able to do the edits like video links in the starter plan? That’s all I can afford right now.
-
It depends on whether or not you want to upload videos to your site or if you’re using video links from YouTube or another video hosting service.
To upload videos to your site, you would need the Pro plan as the Starter Plan does not give you video upload capabilities. You can compare all the plan options here:
https://wordpress.com/pricing/
If you are using videos hosted elsewhere, then Starter should be sufficient.
I hope that helps!

I’m using Vimeo, would the starter plan work with that? I would go pro, but the funding is not quite there yet unless there is a payment plan option. Starter is all we can afford for now. Let me know because I do not want to waste my intern’s time.

I pushed the wrong button, I put as resolved. Technically this issue isn’t so ignore that.

Yes. As long as you don’t need to upload videos directly to your site, Starter will work.
