Making changes to theme (Dara)

Thanks in advance for any help.

I am still getting used to WordPress, very different from what I used before. I would just do everything from scratch using html or css, but using css here is complicated because its hard to get it to work with the widgets, so it ends up looking strange.

    I have a few questions:

    1. Dara comes with a header where you can place a logo. How can I change the background color of this header area or totally remove it? The theme will currently only let me change the website background color and menu color, and the two other color areas are greyed-out for some reason.

    2. I considered using woocommerce, then changed my mind. There is now a pesky cart icon I cannot get rid of now, no matter how many times I try to remove woocommerce. It is on the menu bar

    3. Is there a way to change the padding around the menu bar items so that all of the words fit onto one line? Also I see in this theme demo that there is a drop down menu but I do not see how to do that in theme options?

    4. The whole “blog area” (not sure what to call it) is white. Tried changing post area color with css and it worked but a lot of the surrounding area was still white. How can I change this to a different color

Part of the reason why I paid for wordpress was to be able to find a customizable theme unlike the free ones, but I am having trouble finding themes that are actually customizable beyond basic options. Thanks again for help

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I meant to add this before, but if any of you have suggestions for a similar theme that is extremely customizable with html/css without the widgets getting in the way – I am open to that as well.
