How can I make my front page have a ‘read more’ option rather than just showing the whole post on the front page?

As an alternative, depending on what theme you have active on the website you wish to make these changes on you may have the use of the Excerpts feature. For more information on Excerpts please review the following link: https://en.support.wordpress.com/excerpts/. Within this link you can access a list of all of the themes that have this feature available by default.
