Making header links to categories instead of pages
-
Hi there – I’m looking to change the links at the top of my page (cfrcsports.wordpress.com) so that they link to category pages instead of regular wordpress pages.
As it stands, I want my blog to basically split my posts into those categories and allow people to view all the posts in a given category by clicking the heading at the top of the page. But I also want to retain the ability to make those header links go to wordpress pages.
Specifically, I’m looking to mimic this site – sports.wnur.org – their first two header links (About Us and Schedule) are regular wordpress pages that could be edited, while the rest link directly to category pages.
Can I do this or would I need wordpress.org?

FYI the way to do it is (using your cfl category as an example):
<a href="http://cfrcsports.wordpress.com/category/cfl/">CFL</a> -

I tried it on my blog (lancelf.wordpress.com) and it worked for my page’s on the side bar but it didn’t work for my pages tab up top. If you check it out it is regarding the movie buzzin page

Apparently your blog is not http://lancelf.wordpress.com – please give us the correct link.

I don’t know which browser you’re using – with Safari I can see an indentation halfway through your second (seemingly blank) header tab: the link is there, but strangely it’s lower than the others – I get to see its name for a moment when I refresh the page. I duplicated the situation in by test blog, and I ‘m afraid it’s a problem of the particular theme you’re using: when I changed from Digg 3 to Andreas 04, for instance, everything showed up alright.

Using lancechristensen’s blog as the example I get two very different results when I click on the Pages in the Page’s widget (or the Page tabs at the top of his blog), and when I click on the Categories from the Categories widget.
The first leads me to a Page with content, but no entries from his categories and the second leads me to a page with entries from his Categories.
