Making Illustratr default template look like portfolio template

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi there,

I chose Illustratr for the portfolio front page but in order to have the workflow of pages I wanted, I had to change the front page to default template. ( I only wanted 3 projects displayed on the front page with another 3 displayed within one of those 3 front page projects).

This means that the front page images are displayed smaller than they would be using the portfolio template.

Is there anything I can do about this?

I believe there is no way to make a portfolio template only display selected projects rather than all, hence having used the default template with project tags and types.

    Thank you

    Hi,

You may limit the number of projects displayed on a page with the portfolio page template assigned, by changing the number of projects to display at My Sites → Settings → Writing → Content Types, as described in the Activating a Portfolio and Setting Portfolio Projects Per Page section of the Portfolios support page. However the number chosen there will also effect the number displayed on your Portfolio page.

On the portfolio page and on a page with the portfolio page template assigned, projects are displayed in reverse-chronological order by publish date. In order to display the three chosen projects and in a certain order, they’d have to have the three most recent publish dates, in the desired order. The publish date and time of any project, page, post, etc. may be altered in the corresponding editor.

( I only wanted 3 projects displayed on the front page with another 3 displayed within one of those 3 front page projects).

If you do as I describe above, the second set of three projects within one of the first three projects could not be displayed on a page with the portfolio page template assigned to it, because any page with that template assigned would display the same three (or whatever number is set) projects in the same order.

So, unless there’s some work around that I’ve missed, or CSS customization that I’m unaware of, the second set of three would have to be displayed on a page with the default page template.
