Making Money from WordPress.

My blogging journey actually began on Hubpages, which, although it’s now dying a death, provided a reliable source of income with it’s Ad Program.
I’ve since closed my account and moved over my content to wordpress, which I’m getting a let more exposure from, but sadly doesn’t give me a reliable income (yet).
What are my options?

The only advertising program at WordPress.com is called WordAds and it’s for blogs on their own domains that have enough traffic to qualify for acceptance into the plan.

Advertising outside of WordAds at WordPress.com is not allowed.

Thank you very much for your advice.
It’s still early days, and I have no wish to pay for hosting when I can continue this hobby for free at the moment.
If (or hopefully when) traffic and interest rises, i’ll look into a hosted solution.
