Making my blog stand out

  I want to make a blog stand out something that says this is about the topic not generic blog theme from the wordpress database.

  The problem is i’m a terrible scripter even on simple two line texts i’m horrible at it on website i rather custom design each webpage then make an XML sheet because it takes less time.

  Any suggestions on how to do this? any other ideas besides custom themes?

  but this is WordPress i’m not using a hosting domain expect wordpress.com why pay money for a blog before i even know how to do anything besides post in a blog…like getting that cat on your picture or showing video or photos or drawings.

  Hi there,

  There are various ways you can customise your blog on here – you can choose a theme – and you can look for a theme with editable colours or header images for now… there are lots to choose from :)

  If you get an upgrade to your account you can also then fully edit the CSS – that is the stylesheet – for the themes as well – so you can change as much as you have the coding ability to do. Some things are much easier to alter than others though, so have a look on some CSS forums to see if it is worth the money first… Usually just using a theme with custom colours or header is enough.

  The cat picture is the persons avatar – that is in the wordpress dashboard under ‘users’ – ‘your profile’ and is called gravatar in the top right – another graphic to change is in ‘settings’ – ‘general’. They are both avatars of sorts. You just upload a picture and it lets you crop it.

  To put a picture on your blog I use html – so when I write a post I click the html tab top right on the post entry box – then I put in the image using html image tags – I think you can just click the ‘img’ button and put the images URL in there though.

  Adding youtube videos is easy – you get the embed code from the youtube page – and copy and paste it into the html blog post.
