Making my email a link??
-
I want to make my email address a link. I have it in my sidebar where I added text. I’ve searched the FAQ’s but couldn’t find anything for this. Help please?

A link that opens the email editor….so that when someone clicks on it, it opens their email to be able to send an email.

Even though it’s easy enough to do, it’s a bad idea unless the email address is encrypted. It attracts spam. I use the email encoder here http://www.coderlab.us/playground/email_encoder.php

Thank you for your reply. Well, if it attracts spam, maybe it’s best not to do it, then!

As long as you encode it, it will be OK.
But why not use a contact form instead? That way, your email address is not exposed at all. http://faq.wordpress.com/2007/05/13/how-do-i-make-a-contact-form/

Thanks again Vivian. I’ve saved the link for the encoder but have no idea how to use it to put it on my page.????
Sorry! I’m so new at some of this. -
I thought you wanted it in the sidebar? If so, all you need to do is open up a text widget and post the code in there.

I opened the text widget with the same text I’ve already put on my page. I used the encoder but couldn’t copy/paste from it to the text. I tried using both HEX and HTML. When I right-click, my option is to ‘Select all’—there was no copy option.

I use the Hex 70% option. Click on the “highlight all” button at the bottom. Then right click and select copy. Then open your widget and paste it.

I got it! I didn’t know you had to add a new Text widget for each set of text! That’s what was wrong. I’m going to learn all of this one day! Please be patient with me. :)
Thank you,

Well, it didn’t HAVE to be a new text widget. You could have added the text to the bottom of the existing widget. But as long as you got your result, that’s great!
