Making my site private
-
I’m trying to make my site private while it’s under development and I’ve saved the appropriate settings in ‘reading settings / site visibility’ options yet people can still view the site when they type in my URL.
I haven’t invited them as users either.
Help!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’m afraid you’re in the wrong forum. This support forum is for free WordPress.com blogs. You appear to have a self-hosted WordPress.ORG install. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are completely separate and different: http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
Please visit the WordPress.org support forum for assistance as we won’t be able to help you here: http://wordpress.org/support/ If you don’t already have a username on that forum, click the register button in the upper right corner so you can post in that forum.

But I am logged into my account with WordPress.com – how can I have a site that’s self-hosted by .Org if it;s totally separate?

You probably have your site connected to WordPress.com via the Jetpack plugin, but http://sophiekwalker.com/ is definitely not hosted by WordPress.com. Your site does not display the WordPress.com footer credits, does not have the WordPress.com admin bar, and your nameservers indicate you are hosted by justhost.com, not WordPress.com.
Your WordPress.com URL connected to your username, http://sophiekwalker.wordpress.com/ also redirects to the self-hosted site.

Thank you – that’s hugely helpful – the web designer I was working with has gone totally AWOL. Best wishes and thanks again Sophie

No problem. Post in the .org forum. I’m sure they’ll be able to help you figure this out.
