Making My Theme Look Like The Demo

    So right. First time with a WordPress blog and I have been reading and searching for probably the last three hours so I apologize if this is a thread which has already been posted in another form.

    Here goes. I want to know how to make my Twenty Fourteen theme look like the demo theme with items on the top bar and on the left side bar that highlight when I scroll over them and allow me to click on them. I can’t seem to figure out how to add these menu items and let’s be honest.. have no idea what I’m doing. But if someone can help me figure out how to at least do this – I would be so grateful.

    I may be confused I think… because when i click on anything that would help me it still makes my blog look like a blog and not like the beautiful magazine set up I see there with twenty fourteen… Thank you anyway though, I just don’t know what I’m doing. :)
