Making My WordPress Page Private

  I am planning to do a major overhaul to my WordPress page and would like to shut it down for a while. Is there a quick way to turn my page from PUBLIC and searchable online to PRIVATE and not viewable?

  Yes. You can make the visibility private. To change blog visibility to private go to > Settings > Reading scroll to Blog Visibility and choose option 3 . See the guide here http://en.support.wordpress.com/settings/privacy-settings/
