making new posts page the Home Page
-
I would like to make the page people get to when they type in your URL(the new posts page),my Home Page.
This would seem to be logical(to me at least).
When someone is on another page at my blog they can click on the Home Page link
and get back to the first page(I hope this makes sense).
Thanks for your response,
Jerryl

If you go to Settings->Reading you can set a static page for your front page and also select a new posts page.

Thanks for your reply mtdewvirus,
I did that but the home page sill remains a new blank page, I read that some changes don’t take effect until a new post is published so I did that too,but it still won’t take.
Anyway Key Master mtdewvirus I’ll keep trying different things and see if I can get it.
Thanks again,
Jerryl -
If you want content to show up on the front page, you’ll need to enter it in the page that you’ve set for your static front page.

by default the new post [blog page] page is your home page
every time someone enters example.wordpress.com there
taken to your newest blog post… -
Thanks guys,
I’m new to this so please bare with me,my blog is http://www.ebizinfosite.com(how do you make your name a link to your blog,I told you I was new to this).
When someone is at my blog and at another page I would like the Home link to take them to my new post
(blog page), the same page you’re taken to if you use the URL.
Do I have to transfer the content over to the home page?
Thanks again for your(very)quick responses,
Jerryl -
You make your name clickable under Settings->My Profile and put the URL of your blog in where it says “website” and be sure and include the http.
You’ve made a new page you named HOME. Delete it.

with that theme if someone wants to go back to your
home page with your blog post they click Jerryl’s Weblog,
in your header…Also to make your user name linked to your site just click
your user name at the top right in your dashboard this will
take you to your profile page scroll down were it says website
that’s were you put your URL there might be 2 spots on that page
to enter your URL…..Just a little work around rain’s instructions…

Thanks Again,
What themes are best? I would like to hear some favorites…anyone?
Or is a custom theme the only way to go?
Thanks,
Jerryl -
the Digg 3 theme is very popular because it has a home tab and when a
reader clicks the home tab they can see the newest blog posts…I’m currently using the Digg 3 theme you can check it out by
clicking my home page link » Teck~Line (Home Page) -
Thanks alot teck07,
I like the looks of Digg 3, I may change over. You can do that very easily, correct?
A custom header would be cool too.
I’m going to look into it, thanks again,
Jerryl -
Your welcome jerryl, Yes changing over to a new theme is very
easy all you have to do is go to Dashboard -> Design -> Pick your theme… :) -

Not all themes play nicely with the static page as home page set up. Check the Posts page of that site for a list of themes that presently work well with this arrangement and the pitfalls.

Thank you justjennifer,
Very thoughtful and helpful info for us new to WordPress.
Gets me thinking maybe a series of blogs showing the other things you can do with your WordPress.com
blog such as:widgets,addons,plugins,ect.
Just a thought,
Jerryl
