Making pics and posts appear in full on page
-
Hey all! I’m super new to WordPress but have some very limited coding experience from several years ago.
I’m trying to set up a personal blog, and have run into two problems:
1) When I make a post, all it shows is the title of the post and the viewer has to click it to see the content. I’d like each post to show in full on the page.
2) When I post a picture, the same issue as #1 applies (I imagine for the same reason so the solution to #1 should fix that), but it also crops the picture on mobile. I’d prefer it didnt do that.
I have the personal plan, ie the cheapest one that isnt free. Is there any way to fix these two things without throwing more money at it?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there! Welcome to WordPress.com. :)
Those two point your mention are occurring because the theme you have selected, Illustratr, is pre-designed to be a portfolio-type theme. It’s designed to highlight items on the home page and require a click to get through to the full view of the item.
It sounds like what you are wanting is more of a blogroll theme. There are some great themes to choose from that you can switch to (without fear of losing anything you have created so far!) and get the look you want.
Feel free to start your theme search here: https://wordpress.com/themes/filter/blog
For example, Penscratch 2 is a blogroll theme: https://wordpress.com/theme/penscratch-2
I recommend checking out several themes, viewing their “demo sites” and choosing the one you feel will best fit your needs.
You can also use this theme support guide to help you along the way: https://wordpress.com/support/themes/#what-is-a-theme
