making posted photos smaller.

    I am trying to reduce the size of photos that I post. I start with an image of eg 250-500 kb. If I go to the media library,, the crop tool is grayed out. If I post at large size, it is too big. If I post at medium, it is too small. If I use the edit tool (the pencil) after posting, the image distorts even if I hold down the shift key. What am i missing? Thanks, Paul

    My posted photos are too large. I am unable to make them smaller without distortion or making them too small.

    Hi there,

    If you would like to crop one of your images, you need to first make a selection on the image using your mouse and then the crop button will become available to crop it based off of the selection which you have made.

    In regards to the other issues, in the case of our editors shift is how you actually break your images’ resolution from being proportional. If you just resize your image without holding down any key you can resize your images and they will stay in their original proportion.

    To crop an image: I guess you mean to make a selection in the media library. If I do that, and I select an image, my cropping button is grayed out. Please advise.

    As for the resizing, thank you. I don’t know where I got the idea to hold down the shift key. Your method works fine. Thank you.

    Sure. In the media library, click on one of your images. You will see it displayed. You can then click the button to edit the image and the list of tools will be displayed. The crop button is greyed out at first.

    You can then use your mouse’s pointer to make a selection box by dragging from one corner to another within the image. A dashed box will appear within the image representing the area which will be cropped. Once that box is drawn, the crop button will become available. Which you press it, the crop will be made based off of the selection you made.
