i have 5 different menus (eg. my life), and wanting to make different posts on them, as a way to organize my blog. i am not sure how to do this, and when i tried it edited my whole menu instead of just adding a post to one menu.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

I would not recommend adding posts directly to your menu. Menus are designed to help people navigate static content on your site, i.e. pages, not to be used as, essentially, and index of your posts.

If you’re sure you want to do it, the only way is to create a custom menu. If you’ve been using your theme’s default menu up until now, this will change the entire menu, as you’ll be creating a completely new menu for your site, so in addition to the posts you want to add, you’ll also need to add back any pages that you had on the original menu.

If you want to organise your site I’d recommend you rather use category pages. In other words, you’ll assign categories to your posts according to topics, and then you add those categories to the menu rather than specific posts. That will allow someone to click on a topic, and see all posts about that particular topic on one page.
