Making posts stand out

Hello dear support team,
I was wondering if it is possible in any way to make certain posts stand out more, specifically posts from a certain category. Let’s say one of my categories is ‘news articles’, would it be possible to have each entry in this category highlighted on the home page, or perhaps emphasized by an enlarged picture? I’m trying to get something along the lines of a feature article that demands more attention from the reader.

You could create a class and style it for a thin border or a background color that was different from your other posts. Write your post as you usually do then switch to the html mode and add a div with that class name surrounding your post. If you remembered to do that for every post in a category, it would be differentiated in the way you chose for that class.
It’s a workaround but might accomplish what you want.

Hey thanks for your replies, but I’m a complete noob when it comes to HTML so how exactly would the code look like that I need to add?

@kinkymagazine let’s back up a bit. Your site is private so I could not see what theme it is and if you already have the customized CSS. You would be best served following the advice of staff who have more information than I do.
If you only want to have a post displayed more prominently, you can designate a post as a sticky post. A “sticky” post will stay at the top of the page. If you just want the current item in your news category displayed at the top, depending on your theme, designating it as sticky might accomplish your goal.

Houstonweaver, thank you so much for your help. My apologies for not being a tad more clear about the blog, it is set to private because we are officially launching it in a couple of days, so we didn’t want people to find out about it yet. We do have the CSS upgrade and are using the Imbalance 2 theme, but the solution you offered with CSS works like a charm, and is quite elegant and simple as well. Thanks again!
