Making subpages disappear on the sidebar
-
I am using a Jentri template. Subpages are listed on the sidebar under their parent page. I want them to go away in the sidebar. How do I do this?

How do I do this?
You would have to edit the theme which is not possible here. We’re on a shared environment here and if you were able to edit the theme, you would be editing it for everybody who is using that theme already and they would be doing the same to you.
Best bet, if you can use Widgets on the Jentri template is to create a text widget for your Pages and only place the links you want in there.
Hope this helps,

Drmike,
thanks for the quick reply. i switched to kubrick just to see how this widget thing worked. well, i got as far as creating a text widget, but cannot figure out how to hyperlink in the text box. sure, i can put a url in there, but how ugly is that?
here is what i am wondering. when creating a subpage, is there an option to not list it in the pages widget on the sidebar?
i have a parent page that will have links to dozens of child/subpages. i do not want all of those showing up in my sidebar; i only want them to appear on the parent page as links. i can do the later, obviously, rather easily. its the sidebar thing that is driving me nuts.

This is what I tried and it worked.
(1) The FAQs blog (link at the top of the forum) has a thread that may be helpful for getting the gist, although it’s addressing a “site index”.
Basically you create all the text for page titles and sub page titles with the appropriate *links* in a draft post, then you copy and paste the text you created into a text widget and save it. (If you don’t want some sub pages to show then don’t include them in the text.) At that point you can go back and delete the draft post.(2) No – if you use the page widget there’s no option – the sub page titles will appear in the sidebar.
(3) The text widget you create for your pages and sub-pages will replace the page widget so you just drag it out of the sidebar and drop it into the available widget area and click save changes.

lwarren,
Based on what I have used …
The sub pages being listed on the side bar when u r in its parent page is actually a feature of specific theme[Regulus].
If u do not want that try playing with different themesSome themes have a navigation bar with the main page names listed e.g [Connections] and then add ur spsific navigation for sub page like I have done here
U could have use a text widget to list ur page index.
here is a sample code for the same
<#a href=”http://urURL.wordpress.com/MainPage/SubPage/”>
Page Name<#/a>(Note: Remove the # , i added them to avoid them getting converted to a actual link)
Hope that helps
