making sure deletion will work like I need it to

I need to delete the content of my bygonebasics.com wordpress site. It has gotten really corrupt after a theme change and a shopping cart plug-in installation. It is down and unuseable. I have downloaded previous copies and will use one of my other blogs to assist me in transferring my text back to the new pages. But I want to be sure I can just start building my site from the moment I delete it’s content. I don’t want to lose my wordpress /domain relationship.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hello there.

Before you do any deleting, I suggest first disconnecting the mapping between your domain and your self-hosted site. DO NOT DELETE THE DOMAIN. That was important enough, I felt all caps was necessary :)

Change the name servers of the domain, bygonebasics.com/, to WordPress.com:

    http://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/

Then map your domain, bygonebasics.com/, to your WordPress.com site. You can do that in your Dashboard here: bygonebasics.wordpress.com/wp-admin/. Click Store, then Add Domain, and Map a domain you already own.

Once you’re certain that all your connections are up and running properly, then you can decide what to do with the self-hosted site accordingly.

Let me know if you have any questions at all. Sorry to hear your self-hosted site has caused these problems!
