making sure .docs open in MSWord in their original formatting

  I want documents that I upload to my site to open in MS Word so students can see the original formatting.

  My syllabus has a lot of formatting that gets messed up when I open the document to read it off my wordpress site for the class. You have to “Save As” and “Enable Editing” to get to the original formatting. Most of my students won’t do all of that.

  Note .doc, .docx (Microsoft Word Document) is an accepted file type for uploading. Please see http://en.support.wordpress.com/accepted-filetypes/ and http://en.support.wordpress.com/uploading-documents/

  If you want to embed the document itself into a post or a page, you will have to use a third party application like Scribd or Google Docs. Otherwise, the documents will appear as a download link.
