making the switch — some things can’t move

I made the switch from blogspot to wordpress and there were some things on my old blog that i really liked! RE: a counter so people saw how many readers, a map that showed where around the world my readers were coming from, some html code for books i am reading, etc.

I can’t seem to figure out how, if possible, to move these over as I’m not seeing any option for putting html in anywhere, especially as a widget or on the sidebar. I’m obviously new to this, so I hope the answer isn’t obvious. But I’m REALLY hoping I can move them…

    any suggestions?

You can just go to the Write page and click on the Code tab and put the HTML in there. You can use the Whosamongus widget to show how many people are reading the blog (put it in a text widget in the sidebar) and Clustr maps as well to show where they are coming from. You probably can’t use the exact same code, because it’ll relate to your blogger blog. Just go to the websites you got the code from and get the new code for the new blog.

What will NOT work, however, is code with Javascript in it. That would introduce a serious security risk here and isn’t allowed. Also banned: iframes, Flash, embeds.
