Malicious editing of my comment by blogger.
-
Hi,
Foolishly,I commented in disagreement on a rather offensive blog. The blog owner edited my comment to look as if I approved of his/her blog.Is there anything I can do about that?
I suppose it may just be a lesson not to engage ‘crazies’ but I don’t want anyone to think I’m one of them! Thanks for your attention.

That happened to me once. Best thing to do is forget it. There’s no way you can win against a blogger without the guts to fight you fairly.

If you just happen to be sleeping with a lawyer, you can attempt to assert your copyright, but it could realistically cost you thousands of dollars for not much. On the other hand, if you can get it for free a letter from a lawyer will scare the pants off weenies like this. The downside is, they generally fire back even crazier than before.
Only you can tell how much drama you can handle. But you do, legally, have the right to enforce your copyright, ie legally insist that your comment be allowed to stand as you made it or not at all. This, of course, does not apply to blogs that have a “Your comment may be edited” warning.

Ok, thanks guys. It’s not drama-worthy. I guess I’ll chalk this one up on the experience board. Still, I thoroughly intend to follow your excellent advice and sleep with a lawyer.

I have on 4 occasions asked to have comments deleted which the bloggers did.
In this case the blogger just might be motivated to remove your comment when asked to do so – he or she apparently did not like it in the first place…
