THANKS! Kokkieh, for your ever prompt & thoughtful reply for being able to answer the questions from the perspective of a WordPress user. Appreciated.

i just wonder if i activate a password protected post, with Tlk.io Widget in it. Will the chat be made public? Traceable by search engine?

  • It is absolutely my pleasure.

If you use the shortcode to embed the widget in a password protected post, it will only be visible to someone who has the password, yes.

As far as I know the content of protected posts cannot be indexed by search engines, but I don’t know for certain. I also don’t think content of the widget would be indexed at all, as it’s content being embedded from a different website, so not actually part of your site’s own content.

Hi Kokkieh, i am not sure you are able to help but here it goes…..
i notice that android phone does not require user to reenter password protected site with cookies not deleted. But with iOS, users need to reenter for every access. A hassle for user

Any way to solve this problem?

  • Do you mean in the app or on a mobile browser?

It shouldn’t be possible to view protected posts in the app at all. The Reader in the app will just show a notice that the post is protected, and you need to open it in a browser to add the password.

If you mean the mobile browser, we make no distinction between Android and iOS. If the browser on the iOS device is not remembering the password, I’d say it’s a setting in the browser. If you’re using Safari in private mode it won’t remember the password, even if cookies are enabled.

    Hi
do you know why this problem happens to some mobile users?
i embed Google calendar in sidebar of yourfriendlybiblereadingcoach.wordpress.com, so far 2 users said that when click on link, either nothing happens or message ” Read…., etc, etc pops up but gone in 1 sec. Need help. Thanks.

  • I’ll need more details to look into that. What type of mobile device are they using? Android or iOS? What browser? What link are they clicking?

I checked your calendar in Chrome on Android and the links all work fine for me.

Same like you, it works fine for me. Android and Chrome. Please help. Thanks.

  • I’ve tested on on iPhone as well, and the links open fine for me. I do notice the Google Calendar links open in a new tab, so those users might have some form of pop-up blocking in their browsers that are causing the problem. It’s not a problem with your site, though.

    THANKS!
1.How do i not open Google Calendar links in another new tab?
2.Advise user to disable any pop-up blocking feature/ setting, perhaps.

  • How do i not open Google Calendar links in another new tab?

That’s not something we can control from our end. There might be an option in Google Calendar to change that, but you’ll need to ask Google support about that.

Disabling pop-up blocking is worth a try.

    Good Day! Kokkieh
Please advise how does Widget MailChimp in worpdress.com with source code(where is it?) work. Thanks.

  • It’s not possible to edit the source code for any aspect of WordPress.com, including widgets. To add a MailChimp widget to a WordPress.com site, you need to get the embed code for the widget from MailChimp, and then add it in the widget here on WordPress.com.
