Malware on Someone's WordPress Site

Someone liked one of my blog posts (Geoffrey Martinez), so I clicked on the link to his site/blog simplemarketing365 . The site wouldn’t open and my anti-virus software went into a panic. I got a message saying ‘An intrusion attempt by download -final -step.com was blocked’. (I’ve put in the spaces in case a hyperlink comes up.) The attacker URL was https:// download-final-step . com . My anti-virus software has given me a few different sets of numbers that look like a IP addresses or the like. I’m not great with computers, so I’m not sure if they’re relevant.

I’ve tried to report the site to WordPress, but it looks like the ‘report’ function is all about abuse, not computer security. And without the actual website address, it doesn’t look like there’s much I can do. I’m not clicking on the link again.

I’ve found the person’s Gravatar profile, if that’s any help in identifying them: https://en.gravatar.com/geoffm87

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This is the link address that I was able to copy by right clicking on the person’s profile:

[Redacted to avoid linking to the site]

When I clicked on this the first time, it tried to redirect me to the ‘final-step’ site I posted above and tried to download something on my computer.

Yesterday, I posted about this malware problem on someone else’s site. Is it being looked into? Other issues that were posted after this have had responses. Should I report it elsewhere?

Any WordPress users who click on this person’s profile are putting their computer at risk.

Thanks for the report! Our Trust and Safety team reviewed and removed the Gravatar profile. I also removed the website URL from your post to avoid anyone else finding/visiting the page.

    Thanks again!
