Malware warning on Chrome about my blog
-
If I google for something on my site – e.g. “marketing change peter thomas” (so like http://www.google.co.uk/search?rlz=1C1CHMG_en-GBGB299GB303&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=marketing+change+peter+thomas) and click on a link to my blog (which would be something like http://www.google.co.uk/interstitial?url=http://peterthomas.wordpress.com/2008/11/25/marketing-change/), I get a warning page as follows: –
———–Warning – visiting this web site may harm your computer!
Suggestions:
Return to the previous page and pick another result.
Try another search to find what you’re looking for.
Or you can continue to http://peterthomas.wordpress.com/2008/11/25/marketing-change/ at your own risk. For detailed information about the problems we found, visit Google’s Safe Browsing diagnostic page for this site. For more information about how to protect yourself from harmful software online, you can visit StopBadware.org.
If you are the owner of this web site, you can request a review of your site using Google’s Webmaster Tools. More information about the review process is available in Google’s Webmaster Help Center.
Advisory provided by———–
The diagnostic page doesn’t say anything helpful and I can’t use their web disgmostics as you have to upload a specific html file to the site to verfiy that you are the ownwer.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Peter

It’s not just you. I get the same warning for my blog here on wordpress (VetYourLawyer.com) if I search for it. But if I put the URL in directly, there’s no problem. Obviously that doesn’t help either of us since we want to be found by searching.
My discovery started because I have a CD made from MP3’s with really bad sound, so I did a search for “poor sound quality mp3″ and was startled to see every single result had the ‘this site may harm your computer” warning, including google! I suspected something was way out of line and that’s when, in an abundance of caution, I googled myself and got the same thing.
I’m no techie, but my guess is someone hacked the way google puts out this warning, in which case hopefully they will get this fixed asap – but I wouldn’t count on it, which is why I am posting here and hoping the geniuses on this board will come to our rescue.

OMG…here too and it does not matter what you are searching for…it’s all over goggle…what’s going on?
Just type any random search and try…it’s not only wordpress

Stopped happening now – a problem at Google I guess – that will teach me to have a lie-in!

It was fixed…that was very very fast…kind of scary to see warning on all the sites though

I posted on Off-topic about it. I was getting the same message for Sitemeter. It’s been resolved there, although I’m still getting the message for several sites. They’ve got a glitch and I suspect they’re aware of it by now.
The Sitemeter link cleaned up just about five minutes ago. A little time may take care of your problem, as well.

Google problem. Nothing to do with WordPress.

<What the heck is a lie in?>
Brit colloquialism (though my US-born girlfriend seems to understand it) for not getting out of bed until 2:30pm on a Saturday – in our case as we are both getting over being ill.

>>Ok. Thx. I thought maybe you were suggesting we (including you) were all lying about our experience, which made no sense, which is why I asked. Thanks for clearing that up, mate! ;-)
